You might have seen him peering over a light fixture or crouched under a
water fountain. It’s here you’ll discover how comfortable someone can
be, contorting to fix our mechanical problems.
That smiling face belongs to Dustin McQueary. He’s part of the
Building Maintenance crew. They’re responsible for the functional
operation of the City buildings. Dustin enjoys the role, getting his
hands dirty to help us do our jobs.
“I really do enjoy doing lighting,” Dustin added, “I also enjoy doing
heating and air work, but starting this time of year the roofs start to
get really hot. We make sure that the people are comfortable and that
everything is working properly.”
When he’s off the clock, he employs his mechanical skills in one of his greatest passions, rebuilding cars.
“My favorite is my 1990 Acura Integra, two-door hatchback,” Dustin
said. “It was my first car. I’ve had it since high school.” He and that
car have traveled many miles together.
I’ve done a lot to that car. It’s been repainted, I’ve changed out the
motor for a high-performance motor. The entire suspension has been
replaced, and pretty much everything has been replaced on that car. I
think it would be easier to make a list of things that I haven’t done to
that car. I’m pretty much going in and replacing everything.”
The quality of his work has been highlighted in several industry trade journals. Read about the depth of detail he puts into his work. The two articles describe the roads Dustin has traveled to refine his Accura into the ride he’s always wanted.
Back at the Civic Center, Dustin’s quality of workmanship was
captured last month at the Pride of Roseville Awards.
Seconds after he
received an award for his quality Customer Serice, with his award still
in hand, Dustin stopped before departing the stage to check an audio
cable connection.
It’s this level of attention to detail that Dustin
provides every day, to ensure that our teams have functioning workspaces
to do our jobs.
