Central Services functions reassigned

Updated March 21, 2018
The City consistently evaluates opportunities to reflect and refine its operations and structure when opportunities arise.

This is what we did when we received notice of the retirement of Central Services Department Director Paul Diefenbach, who retires at the end of April.

As we refine our organizational structure, instead of filling that position, various divisions will be merged into other departments. Fleet and Building Maintenance will become part of Public Works. Purchasing and Central Stores will become part of the Finance Department.

Other than a change in reporting structure for those divisions, everything else will remain the same. The staff at the Corp Yard will remain there and continue doing what they normally do.

This will become effective May 1, 2018.

If you have any questions about this change in our organization, please contact me or your department head.
