Stringing right along to create beautiful art

Drop by the Utility Exploration Center and spin some yarn to participate in a community art project.

Butterfly artA large wooden butterfly has been installed in the lobby of the Martha Riley Library/Utility Exploration Center building, and visitors are encouraged to grab some string and make their mark.

Adults and kids alike have embraced the interactive artwork, and staff enjoys watching the butterfly change each day.

The butterfly was installed to promote Bird and Bug Bonanza, a free family event held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on February 1 at the Utility Exploration Center.

At the event, the community will learn about storm water and explore life in local creeks and waterways.

Bird and Bug Bonanza features live birds and bugs, an indoor creek crawl, games and prizes, face painting, and the opportunity to build a birdhouse (while supplies last, $10 materials fee).

The art installation will be up through the month of January.
