UPDATE: Important changes to your tax allowances from the IRS

Updated December 30, 2019

Allowances are no longer used for the redesigned 2020 W-4 form.  Going forward, using the 2020 form, tax withholdings will be entered as a dollar amount.  Read more about the reasons and impact to your paycheck here.

The redesigned 2020 W-4 form is now updated and available for employees.

Reminders:

  • Employees are NOT required to submit a new W-4 merely because of the new form.
  • The Oracle system has translated your previous elections. You will not see a change until you complete  the new W-4 form.
  • The City strongly recommends that you review your tax withholdings and make any necessary updates in the new year, especially after the 1/10/20 check.
  • Please consult a tax professional with any questions, the City’s Finance (Payroll) and Human Resources departments are not able to offer tax advice.
  • The IRS website has provided FAQs: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/faqs-on-the-2020-form-w-4
