Approved Technology Projects for FY19-20

Updated March 01, 2019

Due to the large impact technology has on our City, seven years ago Roseville developed a technology governance process to help manage our investments. The Technology Governance Committee and Governance Process was created to:

  • address issues such as managing resources, balancing new projects with the existing workload
  • deciding when to recommend contracting technology services because of staffing constraints
  • ensuring that the City Manager and City Council have all available information when committing City funds to technology initiatives.
The decision-making model shown below (click to enlarge) is the basis for the technology governance process.  It illustrates the workflow that begins with identifying a business need and ends with implementing a project.

As part of the governance process and in preparation for the budget, the TGC compiles a list of recommended projects for the new fiscal year. This list is populated based on the received concept papers that were submitted to governance throughout the year. Then, this list is taken to the department heads and the City Manager for final review and approval.

Once approved, these projects are factored into the rates that IT has projected for the new fiscal year. Any project not included in this list will need to be vetted by the TGC & City Manager separately. Additional costs may apply and/or project timelines may need to be adjusted to accommodate for any late submissions.

Please see the list of approved projects for FY19-20 on the Technology Governance page of the HUB under resources. You can also see the projects that were approved for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
