The City requires that every employee complete a new citywide, Cyber Security Awareness training. This effort begins next Monday, January 14th. This training is needed to address the increasing number of cyber-attacks against government facilities.
Each employee will receive an email with a link to training that will further educate employees on Cyber Security. This 45-minute online training is required for all City employees. It covers the following topics:
- an employee’s role in protecting our organization’s data and resources
- common threats that all of us face online
- how to identify malicious emails
- how to protect against future threats
On January 14th every employee will receive an email with the link to the training and will have until February 11th to complete it. Employees will receive reminder emails leading up to the deadline until they complete the training.
This is the authorized email that you will receive:
Over the past two years, the IT Department has conducted a series of security tests involving every employee. The tasks were designed to evaluate our performance in identifying and reacting to cyberthreats. We are pleased to announce that as a group, our performance is much better than the national average. Better yet, we recently performed better than we did two years ago.
This is an on-going effort to protect the City’s resources, our data, and our staff. We thank you for your continued due diligence and support in these matters.
